Former Woodchucks In World Series

By: Ryan Treu
This years Fall Classic will feature two connections to central Wisconsin. Former Woodchucks Daniel Descalso of the St. Louis Cardinals and Mark Lowe of the Texas Rangers will be both looking to earn their first World Series championship.

Descalso, a member of the 2006 Woodchucks, has come off the bench most of the season, with a majority of his playing time spent at third base.  Descalso had a respectable first full season in the majors, hitting .264 with 1 homerun and 28 RBI.  The postseason, Descalso is hitting .167 in limited playing time.

Mark Lowe, a 2002 and 2003 Woodchucks alum, is playing in his second consecutive World Series with the Rangers and will look help bolster the Texas bullpen.  Lowe was hampered by a hamstring injury late in the season, which prevented him from pitching in the previous two series.
