WAUSAU, WI –
June 6, 2007 - (stats)
It was difficult to tell what was more impressive at Athletic
Park Friday night, the offensive fireworks displayed by the
Woodchucks' bats or the post game firework extravaganza.
Behind 17 hits, the
'Chucks improved to 6-2 on the season with a 15-2 thrashing of
the visiting Waterloo Bucks (3-6). Kyle Wilson (Hill Community
College) went 2 for 3 and scored four Woodchuck runs, while new
arrival Troy Frazier (Kentucky) 2 for 5 with four RBI and three
runs scored. Every Woodchuck in the lineup recorded at least one
hit, with seven Woodchucks having multiple hits. Four Bucks
errors helped to fuel the outburst of scoring for the
Woodchucks.
Other notable Woodchuck
performances included: Brent Weaver (Oklahoma City) 2 for 4, 3
R, Jeff Cowan (High Point) 3 for 5, 3 R, 2 RBI and Chris Slater
(Baylor) 2 for 5, 1 RBI, 2 R.
Starter Rob Currie was
only able to work four innings and Clint Tilford (Kentucky)
worked two innings of relief and picked up the win in his first
appearance of the season for the 'Chucks.
Bucks' starter Matt
Morgal allowed 10 runs on 11 hits, picking up his second loss of
the season.
The
Wisconsin Woodchucks are a member of the Northwoods League, a
