WAUSAU, WI – June 23,
2008 - (stats) All the
Woodchucks (18-6) need was a little home cooking as they snapped
a season long three game losing streak with a convincing win
over the Brainerd Blue Thunder (7-13) Tuesday night at Athletic
Park. The 7-0 victory moves the 'Chucks home record to 13-2 on
the season.
Bobby Pritchett
(Central Arkansas) picked up his league leading fourth win of
the season with another impressive start for the Woodchucks.
Pritchett worked six innings, allowing only three hits and no
runs while striking out four. Terrance Jackson (North Central
Texas) looked untouchable in relief, earning his first save of
the season. Jackson worked three innings and retired all nine
Blue Thunder hitters in succession.
The Woodchucks did all
of their damage with the bats early, jumping on Brainerd with a
five-run bottom of the first. A Geoff Klein (Santa Clara) two
run shot into the newly constructed right field deck and a Kyle
Wilson two-run single were the big hits in the inning. Wilson
would add a two run homer of his own in the third to round out
the scoring and finish the game 2 for 4 with the homer and four
RBI. Jeff Cowan (High Point) extended his on-base streak to 24
games with a 3 for 3 night while Jonathan Kaskow (Stanford)
continued his hot hitting ways finishing 2 for 2 with a pair of
runs scored.
Blue Thunder starter
Michael Lueck (North Dakota) picked up the loss, dropping his
record to 1-3.
The 'Chucks look for
the sweep tomorrow in game two against Brainerd. It's Be-Green
T-shirt night at Athletic Park presented by K-Tech Cleaning.
