WAUSAU, WI – June 21,
2008 - (stats)
The
Woodchucks (17-5) lost consecutive games for the first time this
season after dropping a heart breaker to the Madison Mallards
(13-9) 7-6 in 10 innings Saturday night at Warner Park. The
'Chucks fought back to score three runs in the top of the ninth,
but gave up two in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to
extras. A walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th
gave the Mallards the victory.
Kyle
Mertins (Santa Ana) picked up the no-decision in his third start
of the season. Brad Riddle (Oklahoma City University) picked up
the loss to drop his record to 1-1.
Jeff
Cowan extended his on-base streak to 22 games and went 1 for 2
with a pair
of runs scored. Bobby Pritchett (Central Arknasas) went 3 for 5
with three RBI including a huge two-RBI double in the top of the
ninth to give the 'Chucks the lead. Troy Frazier (Kentucky)
added three hits in the loss.
The
Woodchucks will look for a split tomorrow against the Mallards
as the two do battle at Warner Park at 3:05 p.m. The ‘Chucks
next home game is Tuesday, June 24th at
Athletic
Park
at 6:35 p.m. Former Packer Gilbert Brown will be on hand to sign
autographs!
The
