WAUSAU, WI – June 18,
2008 - (stats) After
falling behind early 1-0, Jonathan Kaskow (Stanford)
provided a spark to get the Woodchucks (16-3) back on the
winning track. With one out in the bottom of the first, Kaskow
launched a Greg Martin fastball over the right field fence for a
grand slam. The 'Chucks would not trail for the rest of the
night as they put away the Rochester Honkers (11-7) 8-4 on
Wednesday night at Athletic Park.
Bobby Pritchett
(Central Arkansas) got his third start of the season and was
impressive in six innings of work. Pritchett picked up the
victory and improved his record to 3-1. He struck out eight
Honkers while allowing just one earned run on five hits.
Jeff Cowan (High Point)
extended his on-base streak to 19 games with a first inning
single. Cowan went 1 for 3 with a pair of runs scored, while
Chris Slater (Baylor) added a pair of hits. Brent Weaver
(Oklahoma City) and Geoff Klein (Santa Clara) each scored a pair
of runs in the victory.
Honkers starter Greg
Martin left in the second inning with an apparent arm injury,
but was saddled with the loss. Martin's record on the season is
now 1-1.
The Woodchucks close
out their home stand with a battle against the Eau Claire
Express on Thursday at Athletic Park. It's Special Olympic
Jersey Night as the 'Chucks will be wearing special edition
jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game with all the
proceeds supporting the Special Olympics. Also, the first 500
fans through the gate will receive a Woodchucks poster!
The
Wisconsin Woodchucks are a member of the Northwoods League, a
