WAUSAU, WI – June 11,
2008 - (stats)
Through thirteen games, the Woodchucks (11-2) are looking like
the team to beat in the Northwoods League. Behind the
outstanding arm of Bobby Pritchett (Central Arkansas) and the
continued offensive surge, the 'Chucks handily defeated the
Green Bay Bullfrogs (5-8) 10-1 Wednesday night at Athletic Park.
In his second start of
the season Pritchett dominated the Bullfrogs, at one point
retiring 14 straight Green Bay batters. He allowed no runs on
only two infield singles while striking out eight and walking
none. The effort netted Pritchett his second win of the season.
Rob Currie (Tusculum) worked three innings of solid relief to
finish off the game.
The 'Chucks bats
continued to support the pitching as eight of nine starters had
at least one base hit. Kyle Bubak (Salt Lake CC) went 1 for 2
with two RBI and a run scored, while Carson Vitale (McClennan
CC) finished 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Chris Wade
(Kentucky) and Chris Slater (Baylor) each scored a pair of runs,
while Kyle Wilson (Hill CC) added two RBI.
Former Woodchuck Riley
Tincher (Northern Iowa Area CC) got the start for the Bullfrogs
and picked up the loss. Dwight Tanaka (California) had two of
the five Bullfrog hits.
The Woodchucks look to
make it eight straight as they host the Green Bay Bullfrogs
tomorrow at Athletic Park. The first 500 fans will receive a
Woodchucks baseball and there are post-game fireworks. First
pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. with gates opening at 5:35 p.m.
The
Wisconsin Woodchucks are a member of the Northwoods League, a
college wood bat summer league featuring players from across the
country. Baseball America named the Northwoods League as
one of the premier summer collegiate baseball leagues in the
country. For ticket information or to reserve a date for a group outing,
