In the night-cap of a double header Tuesday night in
Eau Claire
, the Woodchucks (10-2) fought back from a two run deficit to
win 4-3. It was their third straight win over the Express (4-8)
and sixth straight overall.
Down
3-1 heading into the sixth inning, the ‘Chucks started a
two-out rally. Chris Slater (Baylor) walked and Chris Wade (
Kentucky
) was hit by a errant pitch. A passed advanced the runners and
Bobby Pritchett (
Central Arkansas
) drove in Slater with a solid single. Wade then scored to tie
the game on a Brooks Pinckard wild pitch. With the game tied at
three, Kyle Bubak (
Salt
Lake
CC
) slapped a single to drive in Pritchett and give the ‘Chucks
the lead for good.
Zak
Moore (Creighton) work six solid innings and picked up the
victory, improving his record to 1-0.
Moore
allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out seven. Aaron
Varnum (Embry-Riddle) came on in the seventh to earn his second
save of the night and league-leading fifth overall.
Pinckard
picked up the loss in relief as his record falls to 0-1 on the
season. Pacing the Express offensively was Robbie Knight, who
finished 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.
The
Woodchucks next home game is Wednesday June 11th
against the Green Bay Bullfrogs. The Klement’s Sausage Racers
will be at Athletic park and the first 250 adults will get a
free package of buns, presented by Trig’s.
The
