EAU CLAIRE, WI – AUGUST 3, 2007 – (stats)
The Chucks dropped a 12-inning, three hour and thirty six minute
game to the Express 4-3. With the game tied at two in the top
half of the 12th, Nick Nordgren (Indian Hills C.C.) worked a
hit-and-run to perfection driving in the go-ahead run. The
Express countered with two in the bottom half, winning on a wild
pitch.
Each team scored one run in the first and the fourth having the
2-2 tie for eight innings. Vicente Cafaro (Iowa Western C.C.)
started the scoring with a solo home run to right field and a
balk gave the Chucks their second run.
Both teams left a lot of base runners as Woodchucks stranded 14
and the Express 12. Willie Kesler (Lamar C.C.) logged the first
six innings before Blake Martin(LSU) logged four scoreless
innings. Pat Venditte (Creighton) pitched the last 1.1 innings.
The Woodchucks loss drops the Chucks a game and a half out of
first with nine games remaining with a 15-9 (31-27 overall)
