Chucks Get One Hit in Finale

GREEN BAY, WI – AUGUST 12, 2007 – (stats) Vicente Cafaro's (Iowa Western C.C.) solo shot to left to lead off the second inning was all the Woodchucks offense could muster, losing 4-1 to the Green Bay Bullfrogs. The Chucks finished 20-13 second half (36-31 overall), good for a third place finish in the South.

Only two other Woodchuck batters reached base as Darin Ruf (Creighton) walked a couple times and Brent Weaver (Rose State College) was hit by a pitch. At the plate, the Chucks struck out 10 times. 

The Bullfrogs plated one in the second and third, and a pair of runs in the fifth. Five pitchers toed the rubber as Zak Moore (Creighton) was handed the loss. 

NOTES: Woodchucks pitching staff finished No. 1 in the Northwoods league with 2.92 ERA  ... Woodchucks are now 3-5 all-time versus the Bullfrogs ... Jeremy Barnes (Notre Dame) was ejected in the sixth after arguing a strike call ... Brandon Frazier (Texas-Wesleyan) set the Woodchucks single season at-bat record with 238 .... Cafaro's long ball was his fourth.
