WAUSAU, WI – AUGUST 11, 2007 – (stats)
Two solo home runs were not enough offense for the Chucks,
losing 6-2 to the Green Bay Bullfrogs. In the second, Vicente
Cafaro (Iowa Western C.C.) smacked an opposite field shot and
Brent Weaver (Rose State College) clobbered a no-doubter to left
a couple innings later.
The loss drops the Chucks to 20-12 in the
second half and 36-30 overall. The Bullfrogs will take on the
Eau Claire Express on Monday, August 13.
Green Bay started scoring early with two in
the first and one in both the second and third leading 4-1 after
three. The Chucks could not figure out starting pitcher Tyler
Cheney (Washington) who logged the first seven innings.
Justin Fitzgerald (UC-Davis) tossed the
first 6.2 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking
out seven. Blake Martin (LSU) relieved Fitzgerald, but logged
just one inning before Pat Venditte (Creighton) closed out the
game.
Final game of the Chucks 2007 season will
take place at Joannes Stadium on Sunday, August 12 at 6:05 p.m.
