WATERLOO, IOWA – JULY 30, 2007 –
(stats) Nick Nordgren's
(Indian Hills C.C.) two-out, base clearing double in the sixth
broke a 1-1 tie, helping the Chucks to a 6-1 win over the
Waterloo Bucks. Willie Kempf (Baylor) tossed a beauty,
scattering seven hits and allowing just one run in seven innings.
The Chucks struck the scoreboard first when
Vicente Cafaro (Iowa Western C.C.) drove in Elliott Arrington (UNC-Asheville)
with a single in the second inning. The Bucks countered back in
the fifth, before Nordgren's big double. The
Chucks added a couple more runs late in the ballgame to insure a
victory. Elliott Arrington, "Cowboy", finished 2-for-5
with a couple runs scored, while Nordgren had two doubles in
three at-bats.
The Chucks still are one game behind Eau
Claire, who beat Battle Creek 6-3, standing 14-6 (30-24 overall)
in the second half. NOTES: Matt Trausch is the probable
starter for Tuesday, July 31 ... The Chucks are now 3-2 this
season and 58-63 all-time versus Bucks ... It was the first game
of the a six game road trip ... Its Nick Nordgren's third mulit-RBI
game of the season.
