Willard Signs with Indians

WAUSAU, WI – JULY 24, 2007 – Matt Willard (Arkansas) has signed a contract to play professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians. Willard, who was drafted in the 49th round, pick No. 1,423, will begin his professional career in Winterhaven, Fla. playing for the Gulf Coast League Indians, the Indians rookie league affiliate.

Willard is the second Woodchuck this season that has signed a professional baseball contract as Daniel Descalso (UC-Davis) signed with the St. Louis Cardinals before he was able to play for the Woodchucks this season.

Matt Willards ends his Woodchuck days with a .178 batting average in 31 games played.
