WAUSAU, WI – JULY 20, 2007 – (stats)
The Chucks
took its second game from the Loggers in as many days defeated
La Crosse 10-5. A base-clearing triple by Joe Servais (Kansas)
in the fourth gave the Woodchucks a comfortable 6-2 lead.
The Loggers chipped away at the Chucks 7-2 lead plating one
run in the fifth and two in the seventh making it 7-5. The Chucks countered in
the eighth with three runs on a pinch-hit, RBI-double by Jordan Stine
(UW-Whitewater) and single by Elliott Arrington (UNC-Asheville) that drove in a
pair of Woodchucks.
All but one Woodchuck had a hit led by Elliott Arrington’s
two hit performance. The Chucks collected 10 hits as a team.
In Sam Freeman’s (North Central Texas College) first start
he logged five innings, allowing three runs, two earned, and struck out two. He
struggled to find the strike zone walking four Loggers. Rex Ingham (Garden City
C.C.) pitched one inning, before Blake Martin (LSU) logged three innings of
scoreless baseball.
Chucks will head to Waterloo for a two-game set. First
pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Saturday, July 21, while a 3:05 p.m. start will
accompany the Sunday, July 22 game.
NOTES: Willy Kesler (Lamar C.C.) is the probable starter
for Woodchucks tomorrow, July 21 … Vicente Cafaro (Iowa Western C.C.) saw his
first action since Sunday, July 15 … He was out with a lower leg injury for four
days … Loggers second baseman Justin Toole (Iowa) made a diving catch in foul
territory down the first base line the end the sixth … It is just the third time
this season the Chucks plated 10+ runs … Logger Willie Bowman was ejected on the
last pitch of the ballgame. |
