WAUSAU, WI – JULY 19, 2007 – (stats)
Brent Weaver
(Rose State College) drove in four runs and Matt Trausch
(Oakland) tossed eight innings allowing just one run cutting
down the Loggers 6-1. Weaver smacked a two RBI-double in the
first and a two-run home run in the fifth, while Trausch retired
12 batters in a row from the second to the fifth.
Chucks move to 9-2 (25-20 overall) with the win and the Loggers
drop to 3-8 (20-24 overall).
The Loggers took an early 1-0 lead in the first, but the Chucks
countered in the bottom half scoring four runs. Two more in the
fifth, thanks to the two-run bomb by Weaver, would end the
scoring. In the ninth, Zak Moore (Creighton) loaded the bases
but got a flyout to end the ballgame.
Nick Nordgren (Indian Hills C.C.), Matt Willard (Arkansas) and
Darin Ruf (Creighton) each finished with a pair of hits.
Nordgren’s two hits were infield singles, also swiping a base,
as both Willard and Ruf each doubled.
Each infielder had at least four assists as Trausch had 16
ground ball outs versus seven fly outs.
The last game of a four-game home stand will take place Friday,
July 20, as the Chucks take on the Loggers. Its Klements Sausage
Races, all the way from Milwaukee, presented by Trigs.
NOTES: Injured shortstop Vicente Cafaro (Iowa Western C.C.) was
in uniform … Matt Trausch consecutive scoreless innings streak
was snapped at 17, giving up a run in the first … Zak Moore saw
his first action out of the pen logging the final inning … Sam
Freeman (North Central Texas) is the expected starter for the
Chucks tomorrow, July 20 … Jeremy Barnes (Notre Dame) and Darin
