Rapids Catcher Debuts for Woodchucks

July 17, 2007

LA CROSSE, WI - JULY 17, 2007 - A Wisconsin Rapids native, Ben Long (MATC), has signed to play with the Woodchucks as a catcher. Long attended Madison Area Technical College this past spring where he hit .333 and led the team in round trippers (8) and RBI's (58).

Long will replace Curt Marshall, who left the team due to sickness. Ben finally gave Joe Servais (Kansas) a day off in yesterday's 6-2 win, as he had caught seven straight games. In Longs debut he was 1-for-4 and threw out the first base runner that tried to swipe a base.
