'Chucks Out-hit Loggers, But Lose 3-1

LA CROSSE, WI – JULY 15, 2007 – (stats) The 'Chucks smacked nine hits compared to just four by the Loggers, but could not get key hits leaving 10 runners on base in a 3-1 loss. The Logger's third baseman Willie Bowman (UNLV) smacked a two run home run in the second.

The 'Chucks lose their first game of the second half and now stand 6-1 (22-19 Overall). With Green Bay and Eau Claire both winning, the Woodchuck now are in a three-way tie for first.

Willy Kesler (Lamar C.C.) allowed just four hits, making one mistake on the two-run home run, and struck out seven Loggers in seven innings. Kelser was handed the loss moving him to 2-6 on the season.

Jordan Stine (UW-Whitewater), who finished 2-for-4, drove in the lone run in the sixth with an RBI-double scoring Brent Weaver (Rose State College). Weaver also collected two hits in the game as all but two starters had a hit.

‘Chucks will finish its four-game road trip Monday, July 16, in La Crosse at 7:05 p.m.

NOTES: ‘Chucks six-game winning streak was snapped with the loss … The Woodchucks are now 3-2 against the Loggers this season … All-time record now versus Loggers 19-18 … Darin Ruf missed the third game in-a-row attending a family reunion … Mat Galens has been placed on the inactive list due to injury … Ben Long (MATC) was activated as a catcher today … Long is the sixth player added since opening day.
