WAUSAU,
WI – April 21, 2008 – The Wisconsin Woodchucks have signed two players from Salt
Lake Community College, leaders of the Scenic West Athletic Conference. David
McKnight and Kyle Bubak will be heading to Wausau to play for the ‘Chucks this
summer.
McKnight, a 5’10” right-handed closer for the Bruins, carries a 0.92 ERA in 17
appearances this spring. He leads the team with eight saves and has 26
strikeouts in 19.2 innings pitched. The Parker, Colorado native and the Bruins’
team captain has signed on to play for BYU next season.
Bubak is
a switch-hitting infielder for the SLCC Bruins. He is currently hitting .298
and leads the team in doubles with 10. The 6’1” sophomore has started every
game this spring and has a knack for getting on base (.446 on-base percentage.)
He also has 12 stolen bases in 15 attempts.
The Wisconsin Woodchucks are a member of the Northwoods League, a college wood
bat summer league featuring players from across the country. Baseball America
named the Northwoods League as one of the premier summer collegiate baseball
leagues in the country. The Woodchucks 2008 home opener is set for Friday, May
