'Chucks Sign Stanford First Baseman

WAUSAU, WI – March 31, 2008 – The Wisconsin Woodchucks announced the recent signing of Stanford infielder Jonathan Kaskow.  The Coppell, Texas native is a true freshman and has received a full scholarship from the Stanford Cardinal.

Kaskow, a 6’4”, 215-pound first baseman, was named Texas High School Player of the Year by the Texas Baseball Coaches Association.  He was also named to the Texas All-State Team in 2006 and 2007.  During his high school senior season the switch-hitting Kaskow was “one of the most intriguing power hitters in the 2007 draft class” according to Scout.com.  ESPN.com also ranked him as the 67th best prospect overall for the 2007 draft.

The Wisconsin Woodchucks are a member of the Northwoods League, a college wood bat summer league featuring players from across the country.  Baseball America named the Northwoods League as one of the premier summer collegiate baseball leagues in the country.  The Woodchucks 2008 home opener is set for Friday, May 30th.  For ticket information or to reserve a date for a group outing, please contact the Woodchucks office at 715-845-5055.
