WAUSAU, WI – January 29, 2008 – Former Wisconsin Woodchucks
pitcher Pat Venditte has been named to Ping! Baseball’s
Preseason All-American team. Venditte, the nation’s only
ambidextrous pitcher, will begin his senior season at Creighton
University this spring.
In
addition to the honor from Ping! Baseball, Venditte has been
named to the 2008 Brooks Wallace Watch List, which is an award
given to the nation’s top collegiate player after the season.
The Omaha native finished his 2007 college season with an 8-2
record and a staggering 1.88 earned run average. He led the
Bluejays with 99 strikeouts in 95.2 innings.
As a
switch-pitcher Venditte was the Woodchucks most reliable bullpen
arm during the 2007 season. He finished the summer with a 4-1
record and a 1.76 ERA in 26 appearances. He led the team in
saves (9) and struck out 39 batters in 41 innings pitched.
Venditte also made the Northwoods League mid-season All-Star
team.
The Wisconsin Woodchucks are a member of the Northwoods League,
a college wood bat summer league featuring players from across
the country. Baseball America named the Northwoods League as
one of the premier summer collegiate baseball leagues in the
